Coinbase Ireland fined $3.6M over underfunded client fund safeguarding
Ireland's central bank fined Coinbase's European arm €3,252,618 (about $3.6 million) for relying too heavily on its U.S. parent and leaving a client-fund safeguarding account underfunded. It is the second penalty against Coinbase Ireland in the past year. The fine adds to the compliance and reputational pressure on Coinbase's EU expansion, a modest negative for COIN sentiment.
