The story of the CULT

20 entries, from 18 November 2024 to 29 August 2025. Written by the people it happened to, in the order it happened.

Posts below are embedded from X, Instagram, Telegram, and YouTube. They load only when you scroll to them, and each one keeps a plain link underneath in case the platform will not serve it.

The birth

A token launched at a $32K market cap, a name the community gave itself, and the two accounts that would decide everything that came after.

The token was launched through the pump.fun service and promoted by well-known crypto influencers on X, while its market cap was still only $32K.

The launch, as it was posted

The name the community gave it — Epileptic — went viral, and a CTO formed in the process around an account on X, @MKultraTheOG ("Ultra"), registered that same day.

On the same day a whale made his first purchase at a 27M market cap: @ElshadRael ("Elshad"), a well-known figure in the crypto sector of Azerbaijan. When the cap fell to 17M the next day, he called on his own community through his business pages to join the project — showing his wallet and explaining what made the token different.

Becoming a real part

Four hundred invitations later, the outsider was inside.

After inviting more than 400 people and turning them into believers and top holders of the token, Elshad was invited by the team and became an integral part of the core CTO team.

From that date he started a series of Instagram and YouTube videos explaining what a CTO — a Community Takeover — actually is, calling on more people to support the token. Over the following weeks he brought more than 1,000 new holders into the community.

The first meet-up

The first live Spaces, and the first time the Azerbaijani holders were named from the front.

The Epileptic team held their first live X Spaces meet-up with the community. The CTO team spoke there about the Azerbaijani holders, and about Elshad, with honour.

After his speech, more people from his side joined the project in the stages that followed.

Times Square

Four hundred dollars of holders' money put the mark on a screen in New York.

Holders funded $400 for agents to make the New York Times Square videos. The project posted the result the same day: "gm to you as well, New York Times Square."

The thread that named the majors

Five thousand dollars, and the token was argued against DOGE, SHIB, PEPE and WIF.

Holders funded the larger part of this promotion — $5,000 — and @Davincij15 published it as a two-part thread setting the token beside the memecoins with the biggest communities: "DOGE. SHIB. PEPE. WIF. All top memecoins with huge communities. And then there's 🟥🟩."

A month of grinding, called out

Four thousand dollars for the last influencer post of the year.

Holders funded $4,000 for this post. It read: "Over a month grinding now and they seem ready for a strong breakout. 🟥🟩 is a creative movement sitting at 10x below its ATH — there's obviously a lot of potential to unleash."

The source document names this account as @OfficialTravlad. It is @travladd now, and X resolves the old address to it, so the embedded post shows the current handle. Both names are kept here rather than one quietly replacing the other.

The last payment of the year

Five thousand dollars into a campaign nobody was allowed to know the details of.

Around $5,000 was paid out of the marketing wallet (transaction 1, transaction 2) to start a campaign with the help of a special group. The funds had been collected mainly from Azerbaijani holders in the last days of December.

The move was offered to one of the CTO members and then strongly advised by the CTO leader, "Ultra", who kept repeating that the details would be shared later because they had to be kept secret. Payment was made 50% in stablecoins and 50% in the project's own token — the marketing team would be holding tokens too, the leader said, because they were going to promote the project subtly, through well-known social forums.

Community funding by holders

What December cost, and who paid for it.

Through December, holders from Azerbaijan funded every marketing payment the project made. Elshad sent some of them to the project's marketing wallet and paid promoters directly. The individual payments are dated entries of their own above; this is the month in one place.

What the holders paid for
  • ~$2,000 towards a WEEX listing — it was not realised, and the funds were refunded
  • $400 to agents for the Times Square videos, on 23 December
  • $5,000 — the larger part of the Davincij15 promotion, on 26 December
  • $4,000 for the travladd post, on 30 December
  • ~$5,000 into the unexplained campaign, on 31 December
  • ~$700 across several promotions by different KOLs, in January

The leader disappears

A week, he said. It was almost a month.

"Ultra" disappeared, saying he had an emergency situation in real life and would be back in a week. He stayed passive for almost a month.

By the third week many holders sold and left the project over the situation. The main X page went quiet too, since he was the only one with access to it, and CTO members started selling and promoting other projects on their socials. Through that whole stretch only the Azerbaijani holders kept actively raiding, and kept the mood up in the Telegram chat.

What it caused
  • Holders sell through the third week
  • The main X page goes silent — one account holds the credentials
  • Only the Azerbaijani holders keep raiding

Three days to appear

A CTO is not a project anyone owns — hand over the keys or the community takes them.

Elshad called on Ultra to come back, to be more serious, and to transfer the leader position together with the credentials to the social pages: this is a CTO and not a project anyone owns, so the community had to be able to continue developing it.

He gave him three days to appear, failing which a new Community Takeover would be carried out.

The bans

He appeared, and started removing the people who had built it.

Ultra appeared. He first banned Elshad from the community Telegram chat, then started banning every valuable member who had invested the most effort and resources into the project, while they were asking why he was acting that way.

That self-serving approach — the opposite of what a CTO stands for — became the main reason most of the community left that Telegram and followed Elshad.

What it caused
  • Elshad is banned first, then the most invested members
  • Most of the community leaves that Telegram

The Community Takeover

The holders filed for the project on DEX Screener, and published the case in full.

The real Epileptic holders carried out their Community Takeover on the DEX Screener aggregator. The post is timestamped to the minute: "29.01.2025 22:33 (GMT+4) — Token Community Takeover!"

The act, filmed

Alongside it they published a detailed document in which Elshad showed the former CTO members to be unprofessional, weak and self-serving.

DEX Screener hands it back

One day of holding the project, then the aggregator returned it to the people who had left.

The next day DEX Screener returned the profile to the former CTO. Shocked by that decision, the Epileptic community tagged their team collectively in a post on X, to get the situation looked at with a serious level of approach.

The betrayal of the leader

What the transaction history showed once anyone looked.

The promotion had been heavily advised by Ultra and organised by him, so it became clear that he was the one who received those funds, on the strength of the community's trust in his word, and that he had simply set aside the leadership and its responsibilities. In time it also became clear how he had been using the marketing plans in his own favour, buying and selling tokens in certain periods.

The month itself is above, day by day: the disappearance on the 4th, the ultimatum on the 24th, the bans on the 26th, the takeover on the 29th and the reversal on the 30th. This is what all of it added up to.

What it caused
  • The leader stops answering and holds the only credentials to the main X page
  • Most of the community leaves the old Telegram and follows Elshad
  • The holders file a Community Takeover claim on DEX Screener

The day of victory

The community took the project back, in its own name.

The Epileptic community became the owner of the DEX Screener profile, with newly formed CTO social links.

What changed that day
  • The profile now points to the community's own Telegram and X page
  • @Epileptic_CULT became the main username and profile handle of the project
  • Elshad Rael took the leader position and formed a strong management team
  • The community started forming a large raiding team, branding their X profile names with the project's two squares — the same proof the Cult Board checks for today
What it caused
  • The project is run by people who bought in from the open market
  • The handle, the Telegram and the X page are held by the community, not by one account

Eighteen days on, the collection has terms: hold, and you are eligible.

The second announcement put terms on the collection: "The development of the best NFT collection ever by the CULT of Epileptic is in the process. We are the last formed CULT in crypto — become one of us by holding 🟥🟩 tokens so you will be eligible for the white-list."

The source document filed this post under 11 August with the first one. Its own timestamp puts it on 29 August 2025, eighteen days later, and it is a different announcement — so it has its own place here.
