BlackRock Files for ‘Buffer’ Bitcoin ETF as IBIT Draws $665M in a Day
The iShares Bitcoin Managed Protection ETF would use options on IBIT to limit losses, in exchange for giving up some upside.
BlackRock has filed for a new 'buffer' Bitcoin ETF, the iShares Bitcoin Managed Protection ETF, which would use options on its existing IBIT fund to cap losses at the cost of some upside. The filing comes as IBIT pulled in $665 million in a single day, underscoring continued institutional demand. A new options-based product from the world's largest asset manager signals further mainstreaming of Bitcoin exposure and could broaden the investor base, a modestly positive signal for BTC sentiment.
