Ethereum Draft Targets Faster Finality and Future Quantum Defense
Ethereum researchers filed a Decoupled Consensus proposal this week that would cut transaction finality from roughly 16 minutes to 4 minutes. The change could reduce capital tied up in cross-chain transfers by 75%, separate validator duties, harden the chain against reorganizations, and lay groundwork for quantum-resistant cryptography. Faster finality would make Ethereum more competitive for settlement and bridge use, a modest structural positive for ETH even though the proposal is only a draft.
