Tether, Circle, Ripple freeze $2.6 billion as Binance hack outflows near $6 billion
Stablecoin issuers Tether, Circle, Ripple and World Liberty Financial have frozen more than $2.6 billion in digital assets tied to a suspected Binance security breach involving nearly $6 billion. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said on Oct. 29 that his firm alone froze over $1.567 billion in USDT linked to the incident. A hack of this scale at the largest exchange, plus coordinated issuer freezes, raises counterparty and liquidity concerns that traders will watch closely for contagion.
